The Stir Art Gallery in Shanghai’s Lu Wan District is the venue for I Am Big Heaven, an exhibition of mixed-media paintings on paper by Ward Schumaker. The works derive from Schumaker’s pastepaper books of the past five years as well as his commercial calligraphic work. A Mirror of Nature: Nordic Landscape Painting, 1840–1910 is an exhibition of 100 paintings ranging from the heroic, romantic wildernesses of the 1840s to the dreamy, inward-looking mental landscapes of the turn of the century. The exhibition, a collaborative venture of the Nordic national galleries in Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen, makes its sole North American stop at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
