“Green” is not a word often associated with air travel—but it should be. United is committed to leading commercial aviation in environmental responsibility and is taking actions today to shape an environmentally sustainable future for our company and the industry. From our pledge to reduce our fuel consumption, to our leadership in bringing biofuels to commercial aviation, to our investments in a fuel-efficient fleet, to our carbon offset, sustainable supply chain and onboard recycling programs, all the way to our energy-efficient, LEED-certified Headquarters, United has made “going green” a priority.
In August, Air Transport World (ATW)—one of the world’s premier aviation trade magazines—recognized United with its highest award for commitment to the environment by naming us the Eco-Aviation “Airline of the Year” Gold Winner. The honor recognizes an airline in global commercial aviation for its eco-aviation leadership, as demonstrated by consistent and impactful action. United took the honor for making environmental policies a priority, for actively engaging in climate change and biofuels working groups and initiatives, and for our dedication to a broad set of activities that improve both our efficiency and the environment in which we operate.
By focusing on being a good steward of the environment, United is proving that it is, in fact, easy being green. For more information, go to www.united.com/ecoskies.
