I really want to go to Vietnam! I wonder if I can survive there as the writer thought, but I think it would be a great experience. After two weeks, winter veacation starts in Korea. I want to recommend my friends who plan to travel abroad to visit Vietnam. I can feel the beauty of its landscape through this article. I hope to travel there someday!

Hi~Guy~

I am a girl who is crazy about rice noodles. After I read your article, I went to eat rice noodles with my friends. I haven't gone to Vietnam yet, but I feel closer to Vietnam. Thanks to your article. When my sister ate Pho in Vietnam, she couldn't eat Pho because its smell is so strong. I'm glad that you enjoyed Pho while my sister didn't like it. I also want to try Pho dish in Vietnam. But I will not ride a bike, because I am not sure if I can handle the traffic like you always did. I just thank God that you are still alive.

As I go through this article, I feel as if I adventured vietnam with Mr. Thong and the writer. I could be given a clear picture of how this country is like, especially incredibly complicated traffic as well as the staple food called "pho". I hope to visit here and taste humanity in vietnam.

I really enjoyed reading this article!!
I could imagine the hectic city in Vietnam vividly. I'd love to trvel there. I think I can manage to ride a car or a bike fairly well as I did in Beijing- in my opinion, Beijing is the worst place to drive, careless drivers and walkers similar in Vietnam, I guess. If anybody happen to visit Vietnam, Pleas bear "HONK YOUR HORN, A LOT !!" in mind. This is the greatest tip!^^

Hi, Mr. Guy!
I am a Korean student and I’ve just read this article, titled “Riding with Mr. Thong”, in a reading class in my university. I’ve never been to Vietnam and I even wasn’t interested in Vietnam before I read this, but now I change! It’s so vivid and exciting that I want to travel Vietnam, riding a bike just like you, having some ‘Pho’… especially, I really wanna visit ‘Dong Loc Road Junction’, a historic place.
We usually say “Vietnam War” in Korea, but you say “American War”. That’s interesting to me.
Thank you for an excellent article. I envy that you seem to travel a lot. :)

This article well presents a journey along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam. Also, the writer demonstrates not only rural landscapes but also history, food, and cultures which he encounters during his trek. Indeed, he invites readers to go through his vivid-adventurous sprit and beauty of Vietnam. Warning: after you finishing reading, you might be fallen into temptation to visit Vietnam and practice the crazy driver's tips which you learned from this article. =)

Dear Mr. Guy!
I recently read your article about Ho Chi Minh Trail in "Riding with Mr. Thong" on my flight to SFO. I am a Vietnamese, hometown in Hue City. I just want note that the picture you had as red imperial gate with the heavy load xich-lo passing through is indeed NOT an imperial gate. It is the front of my HIGH SCHOOL. It calls Quoc Hoc high school meaning National Knowledge and also this school is where Ho Chi Minh go to high school and graduate from. It is one of the most famous school in Vietnam for its rankings and its historical factor in Ho Chi Minh life.
I also would like to compliment on your driving skill in Vietnam. I am still until now can not have the courage to ride motor bike through town in Vietnam.
I really love this article. Very interesting!

Dieu Hien Nguyen
