Jon, thought you might enjoy this article about the Tesla, named for one of science's great unsung heros (Edison discounted Tesla's insistence that alternating current was preferable to direct current, but Tesla was right. However, he lost out on credit and patents and was sidelined, so he would be pleased about the car's name.) Just fyi, Sandy

Jonny, you get to do all the fun stuff! I love my Civic hybrid, but I'd trade its 51mpg for a day in that roadster. Wow.

Hybrids are the "new" Beta Max player. BEV (battery/electric) will be the BluRay of tomorrow. The truth about why the milage is so poor on all hybrids may never really be out, but I can guess it is something to do with the relationships between Big Oil Companies and the Big Automakers. Just would not be in there interest to put the other out of business. If Tesla can produce a battery that can travel 200 plus miles on a single charge than Hybrids battery only range of 40-60 miles looks likes the joke it really is. The 100 mile per gal Hybrid should have been out 5 years ago. Read the spec.s for the Volt and then compare to Tesla for yourself.

Why is no one building a Compact Hybrid? It seems to me if the mid size Prius can get 50 miles to a gallon of gas then a compact ought to get 65 to 80mpg.
